Come See our Doghouse!

We had the pleasure of building a doghouse for this year’s Barkitecture with Jenkins Custom Homes. The doghouses on display will be auctioned off with proceeds benefiting local animal shelters. Please come out and see (or bid on!) our doghouse. Here is a sneak peak!!

“Freshen Up” – Part 2

Hopefully you were able to read part 1 of “Freshen Up” (here is the link in case you missed it). The updating suggestions continue…

□ Tile it – Decorative tile easily customizes a room. However, you do not need to tile an entire wall with decorative tile to get the impact that you want. Use decorative tile as a detail by simply sprinkling some into the main tile or creating a framed out area. This provides a focal point as well as saving you money.

□ Fix it up with a fixture – Updating light fixtures can improve lighting in a space where people need to pay close attention to detail especially when shaving or putting on make-up. Just as important, changing the fixture can also change the style of the room. For example, update your existing brass traditional fixture with a more contemporary nickel one.

□ Reflect on your space – Though mirrors can sometimes be overlooked, they too can add interest to the space. Mirrors can cover a full wall or can simply be used over the vanity area. A large mirror can be used in a small room to make it appear larger. Another option is to custom frame a mirror so that it fits perfectly in the space.

The Green Home

Not green as in St. Paddy’s Day. :)
We had the pleasure of supplying Urban Home Magazine with some “green” insight for their eco-friendly issue and as a result they asked us to help stage the home that will be featured as the cover story. We had local artist Maria Martin bring over some of her beautiful paintings and the talented Margot Blair Floral create a center piece for our coffee table (pictured below). With a little rearranging and a few accessories brought in, we made this sustainable home magazine ready. We even got to taste filtered rainwater. Keep your eye’s open for the next issue, it should hit stands the beginning of April.

Hello Interior Design fans!

We are excited to start our new blog on Interior Design. Hope you will join us for the ride. We will have pictures of projects, new products, design inspiration and more! Here is a picture from the HBA Parade of Homes 2010 in Rough Hollow. Jenkins Custom Homes was the builder and we all had a blast working together on this fantastic home. We aimed for classic elegance and tried not to go overboard with the design or accessories. People kept coming back to see it again and again. The Master Bedroom shown was a perfect shade of gray-blue with accents of brown and gold.
